As golden hour fell upon the glistening cliff, the woman in white turned to the man and whispered, “Say you’ll remember me, standing in a nice dress, staring at the sunset babe…”. Chuckling, the man murmured back, “Yes my love, you are my wildest dream”.
While Taylor Swift’s lyrics provided much inspiration for this particular shot, Lucy and Felix could not have embodied it more perfectly. The Canadian couple dreamt of holding a magical Phuket wedding at the Conrad Samui Hotel. After months of liaising with Ammata’s Eyes, however, troubles emerged as flight cancellations and guest complications kept their plans on hold indefinitely. Nonetheless, Ammata’s Eyes took the challenge to find unique, avant garde locations to gift the couple an enchanting Phuket memory they would never forget.
Lucy and Felix chose the Husband’s Favourite, a pre-wedding shoot package with a total of two hours between 4-6pm. These are the magic hours of Phuket, as the bright sun is not too hot and the winds and seas are on their best behaviour. The team first arrived at Kokaeo Lake, a quiet forest location filled with overarching rubber trees and wide pastures. Being animal lovers themselves, the couple was thrilled to hear that some wildlife were grazing nearby. The sun loomed high in the sky, illuminating Lucy’s gown train in a gorgeous splendor like a maiden in a glen.
Ammata’s Eyes helped guide the couple in some classic shots and poses to their request. A particular beautiful moment was when Lucy brought Felix underneath her wedding veil. While giggling at first, a solemn intimate expression fell between the couple as they held still while the photos were taken. Within this frozen moment, much emotions were exchanged. Though there were many challenges of wedding planning and disappointments along the way, Felix gently kissed his bride as if to comfort her that everything was going to be okay.
At 5pm, the team arrived at Yanui beach to catch a glimpse of a stunning setting sun. Though the bride was in a heavy gown, stitched with intricate embroideries and delicate layers, no mountain was too high to conquer together. Hand in hand, the bride and groom climbed to the top of the cliff where a mesmerizing horizon met them. The ocean sparkled and reflected the colors of the falling sun, while fishermen boats bobbed in the distance.
What is interesting about this location is that although Phuket has no seasons, the cliff itself changes. The grass and foliage turn yellow during the summer; yet during the rainy days, it turns a vibrant green. Today, the cliff glistened with shimmering minerals wherever the sun shone, creating safe passages for the couple to explore and sit upon. The photos taken truly captured their whimsical journey as Lucy sighed into Felix’s embrace with a satisfied smile.
With their pre-wedding photos completed in just two hours, the couple decided to tour Phuket for another 2 months until they headed back to Canada for their big day. We wish you all the best, Lucy and Felix!
